River Kwai Ayutthaya: Description
River Kwai Ayutthaya - the most popular tour of Pattaya on the River Kwai, combined with the ancient capital of Siam Ayutthaya.
Ayutthaya: First, you will travel to Ayutthaya and visit the temple and the statue of the Thai hero, King Naresuan. He liberated the country from the Burmese and expanded the borders of Siam to their greatest extent.
Near the monastery, there is a beautiful garden and a lake from which you can see a stunning holy monument. This majestic relic was erected by the hero-king himself in honour of his victory in the war. There is also a giant reclining Buddha statue.
Temples: You will then see Wat Phra Mahathat, renowned throughout Thailand for the Buddha head statue, which was lifted from the ground by the roots of a sacred tree.
During the war with neighbouring Burma, the temple was completely destroyed. The invaders decapitated all the statues, but one head was raised above the ground, revealing a remarkable sight.
The last temple is Wat Phra Si Sanphet, considered the largest in Ayutthaya. There was once a Buddha statue covered in gold, but the Burmese conquerors melted down all the precious metal.
Nearby is Phra Mongkol Bophit. It was destroyed during an invasion from the north, but has now been restored. Inside is a huge gilded bronze Buddha.
This concludes your visit to Ayutthaya, after which you head to Erawan National Park.
Waterfall: Erawan Waterfall is named for its resemblance to the mythical Erawan elephant with three heads. The colour of the water in the falls ranges from emerald to turquoise.
At Erawan, you can reach the top level, but remember to bring comfortable shoes. It is very beautiful and there are few tourists.
There are fish in each pool at every level. The water is clear, and the fish are easily visible.
Elephants: After lunch, you will visit the elephant village. Ride grey giants down the river along a steep mountainside. Hold on tight and do not fall off the elephant into the river.
After the walk, there is an elephant show. Very impressive. The elephants dance, give massages, spin hoops, and run to the shop.
Hotel on the water: We then arrive at the hotel on the river and settle into a bungalow. You can also choose a house on land.
The next day, after breakfast, visit the meadow where you will meet a herd of monkeys. You can feed them bananas and cucumbers and take photos. Monkeys do not always appear.
In addition to the monkeys, there is a small chapel and a monk who, if you wish, will give you a lucky charm.
Sayok Noi Waterfall and Hot Springs: Next, we swim at another Sayok Yai waterfall. The following stop is the thermal springs, which have three baths with different water temperatures.
Bathe, and you will feel the beneficial effects in about a minute. Hot mineral baths increase vitality and promote healing.
River Kwai Rafting: Rafting on the River Kwai is available on rafts or with life vests.
Death Railway: After lunch, the final stop is the bridge over the River Kwai, which was built by prisoners of war (mainly Anglo-Saxons). Extremely harsh working conditions, a tropical climate, numerous disease-carrying insects, and aggressive animals led to high mortality. Therefore, this railway is called the "Death Railway".
